Chain HomeThe Centre for the History of Defence Electronics (CHiDE) was established in 1995 to record, preserve and disseminate information about the developments in electronics particularly during the nineteen thirties, forties and fifties.

In August 2002 the Centre ceased to operate as a separate research unit within the University; its ongoing research activity was subsumed into the Oral History Research Unit.

The Friends of the Centre have reformed into the Defence Electronics History Society - DEHS. All the events and activities associated with the former 'Friends' will continue under the auspices of the DEHS.
