The advantage, I think, speaking personally, I have more time if I don't have to get the pot out and stir it, mince all the bits and go and get my paraffin. I can read and reading is my joy. I love to read, more than anything I like to read. And I used to say when I was young "Wouldn't it be lovely just to sit and read and read and read." And I'm desperately trying, I'm 74 nearly, to read all the books in case my eyesight fails me at some time. If I've got time to read that makes me happy. It gives you more leisure time-this is what's so modern about it. I don't have to go to a lamp and clean it, trim the wick, and take the glass top off and wash it like my Mother used to have to do. If my Mother had any leisure time she used to play her piano. She didn't have time to read as well. Lots of brass knobs on the kitchen range.
