Use the links below to discover role of women did during the war. Through their own recollections, the conributors share their experiences of the Second World War and you can find out about the various jobs, often very sensitive, that these women carried out.

This project focuses on three different military areas that women were involved in:

WAAF - Women's Auxiliary Air Force

ATS - Auxiliary Territorial Service

WRNS - Women's Royal Naval Service

You will be able to listen to the women who worked in these services as they describe the work they did and also read written reminiscences from diaries and letters that some of them wrote at the time.
