Oral History of Defence Electronics |
Cooke-Yarborough was posted at Dundee, where the
Air Ministry Research Unit had been relocated on
the outbreak of war, under the supervision of Sidney Jefferson. His first job
was in the radar transmitter department where he was to test frequencies using
a rudimentary resonance circuit. This was done by measuring the output as
light, through a small bulb known as a 'bollocky'. He also measured output power
matching the light with light from a controlled mains source to get the voltage
and current. However in a freak accident Cooke-Yarborough was electrocuted and
asked to move away from the department. Back to contents page.| Back| Forwards |
