The Kitchen

When we first came in, I took to it straight away, it was all black paint everywhere, was all dark paint, and there was an old copper in the kitchen and a big high wall right outside the kitchen window, and then I saw the garden and I said...Oh...I love this house and everything, was you know- we both loved it and we just hoped that we'd get it- you know, we realised that when we did, how lucky we were.

It had small windows and a copper in the corner it was a really dark old kitchen you know and we didn't do anything with it until we did manage to buy it- you know- leave it as it was- then the wall fell down outside the kitchen and so what we did- we had to build small walls all the way up the garden to get rid of the stone because there was no way to get it out.

The Priest's House

The only thing we did - I was out one day and I came home and I had just all my suite covers cleaned and my husband and his father had taken all the plaster off all the ceiling and taken the fireplace out the wall and I nearly went up the wall when I saw it, and because there was all straw and you know bird nests of some sort all in the thing- but anyway they said you wait it'll be fine when we're finished and when it was all finished you know they had made up the beams and I was really pleased with it.... When they put the central heating in they made a hole in the ceiling and found all this above- when they did the Stamford book they went up there and looked at that and thought it was wonderful.
