Collyweston Slates are from the hard micaceous limestone beds of Northamptonshire, Lincolnshire, Rutland and Cambridgeshire. Collyweston Slates are more regular in shape, smoother in texture and lighter in weight than Cotswold slates with a fairly constant thickness of 3/8 in (9mm) and an average weight of just over half a tonne per square. Colours are cream and grey. Average pitch of roof is 48 degrees. These slates are bedded in lime mortar unlike other stone slates.
