Marjorie Dunckley was one of four children, her father worked at County Hall in London, in the library department. He later moved to the Mental Health Department. Her mother stayed at home and looked after Marjorie and her siblings. After Marjorie had left school she went to work at Coutts Bank on the Strand in London- she married at twenty-three and had three daughters.
