Yes, and there I had for the first time - I used to have to do the children's washing - and in the bathroom they had a very small washing machine that you put on a board over the bath - an electrical one - yes - but you had to hold onto it because it would move around all the time - so until I got used to using it and wedging it so that it stayed put, so everyday - that was done and then I hung the washing out in the garden and that was no trouble at all.

I know, I know, in this day and age it wouldn't be allowed - but that was in those days.

So the clothes were washed and what about a mangle - was there a mangle there? Spin dryer?No mangle, no spin dryer - so they were just hung out.

I used to hang them up on the line - yes dried outside.
