During the summer
of 1944 most of the targets were in the Rhur and at night but after
the D-day landings we supported the invasion troops and were kept very
busy in the daytime pinpointing V1 and V2 launch and storage depots
in Northern France- these were usually hidden in Woodland and very difficult
to see visually. Another memorable target was breaking the sea walls
on Walchern Island in the Scheldt Estuary to allow shipping to reach
Antwerp.
