Tracking and Target Points...

The controller would advise the technical officer of the details and would then work out the exact setting up distance. The operator 1/C watch and another operator would also work out the target point. This was done by using a slide rule and various formulae. If tracking- the aircraft flew at a constant distance from the station which would bring it over the target, height, windspeed and direction had to be taken into account and the weight of bombs this was to ensure they fell directly on the target. The "mouse" or releasing radar had to work out the exact point at which to give the release signal and provided the aircraft was on the beam to ensure its bombs hit the target, using the information given above. The information was checked with our opposite station.
