WAAF Hostel...

In the early spring of 1944, I together with two more WAAF were posted to Worth Matravers near Swanage on a 9000 course; this was marvellous as my home was at Sopley near Christchurch not very far away.

Swanage, as most of the South of England at that time was full of Yanks living in most of the requisitioned hotels and guest houses in the town, however the RAF had some buildings. There were several RAF radar sites at Worth, CH, CHL, Katie as well as Oboe (Mark II) and Mark III Oboe at nearby Tilly Whim. As Oboe training school was nearby there were quite a lot of RAF and WAAF living in the small town of Swanage.
