Greta first joined Midland Woodworking Company in 1951. Unlike a number of the employees, Greta did not join MidWood straight from school, as she looked after her elderly parents. She learned how to type at a local night school before she worked for the Ordnance Depot as a shorthand typist, and then went on to MidWood.
