Dixons

have generously donated 5 PCs supplied by the IT recycling company Recycle-IT! These computers have been installed in 5 McCarthy & Stone retirement communities and are providing groups of older people with their first experience the Internet and e-mail

In August 2000 work commenced on a 2 year programme of work entitled Talking About Technology funded by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. Details of this project can be found on the Projects page.

McCarthy & Stone

have co-sponsored Technology in the Community: a millennium reflection. This project has brought young people and older people together in the community, to talk about the changes in technology that have affected the lives of older people throughout this century. Through this project, older people have also been introduced to the Internet and e-mail, and will use the new technology to share reminiscences with others around the world.

have provided funding to enable us to develop educational initiatives designed to improve young people's perceptions of technology and engineering

Stanley Foundation

have provided funds to enable an important archive of photographic negatives, depicting technological developments in radar during the Second World War, to be digitised. The images produced are being used to mediate the gathering of the oral histories of the people who were engaged in this pioneering work.
