During his apprenticeship, and once Wally had qualified as a joiner, he worked on producing sash windows. Before the windows could be crafted and put together though, the wood had to seasoned and recorded as he explains:

Wally describes how wood was stacked to enable it to be seasoned. Wood could remain in these stacks for a number of years

Wally explains that there were different places that the wood was stacked in to dry it out

To produce a sash window there are a number of process that are involved. Here Wally describes the traditional processes used to make a sash window at the Midland Woodworking Company.
