Phyllis Bailey was in the WAAF stationed at RAF Winterton from the spring of 1944 until it closed down in the autumn of 1945. As a radar operator on the blind bombing system known as Oboe she worked in association with the Pathfinder Force of Bomber Command on raids mainly to the Rhur and flying bomb sites in Northern France.
