The method of washing was you rubbed it on a board - a rubbing
board, or else you used to, they - people called it a dolly that you plunged up
and down. Can I ask what dolly is?
A dolly is like a bell on a stick almost - that's how
best I can describe it. You hold the pole one end. It had holes in, and so you
plunged this up and down and this had the effect of - the same as you would
rubbing - I suppose.
This was in very hot water?
Well it depended on what in fact you were washing at the
time, and that's how the washing was done in those days, whereas a normal
washing machine now it's just done by movement isn't - this was the same thing.
Agitate the clothes.
