I have to say that was absolute poppycock because there isn't a newspaper owner that didn't take advantage of any situation to have one over on its rivals. It doesn't fit the picture and it didn't fit the picture and the picture wasn't an accurate one.

If the Daily Mail didn't publish-- the Express would find a good way of increasing its circulation. Mark you, the unions equally had a hand in that. They would not- say it was on the Express, if they thought the owners were trying to get one over on another paper at the expense of their own members on that other paper and therefore placing jobs in jeopardy on that other paper, they wouldn't be a party to allowing their own newspaper to increase its circulation on that day. So it was a war on two fronts really and war it most certainly was.
