First, the kind of material that is now on tape. After we formed local talking newspapers there was tremendous pressure for the National titles to be put on to tape, and this meant that, it could only be done at one or two places because a local talking newspaper having to send a national title for every person in the country was out of the question.

So a national service was set up. Inevitably led to a focussing on the various techniques for providing and distributing, 10,000 tapes per day at the centre now, and the techniques included not only the techniques of recording and high speed copying but also erasing, techniques for addressing. New address labels created every single operation.

It meant a degree of professionalism, in an industrial process really, but remember that is going on at the moment.
