The technical improvements are evident in the kind material that is put out onto the tapes. Ronald mentions that after the Local Talking Newspapers were formed there was tremendous pressure for National titles to be put onto tape, but this proved to be hugely problematic in terms of organising the logistics of it all. Instead a National Service was set up which inevitably led to a focussing on various techniques for providing and distributing the some 10,000 tapes per day. The techniques included recording, high speed copying, erasing and addressing (labels.) It was an industrial sized operation which meant a degree of professionalism from the volunteers.
