Gwen recounts how she had mixed feelings when she received the Talking Newspaper tape through her letter-box. Her guide dog would fetch it for her and she would sit down and listen on her little cassette player. Gwen mentions even though Basildon is a new town just how much news there is to record and how much change has taken place over the last forty years since she has lived there.
