The newly formed committee
had a set of standards that they felt were important when setting up a
Talking Newspaper- and Gwen, having already heard a version of a Talking
Newspaper on tape, was keen to make sure that it was understandable and
spoken in clear English- Sue Lawley being the ideal voice. This is what
Gwen and the committee originally aimed for and that is when they advertised
for people who might like to help read to blind and partially sighted
people, by recording a message onto a tape recorder.
